Description
===========

The Digilent WaveForms support for Digilent Analog Design products.
Consists of a shared library, utility application, firmware images,
SDK manaual and sample codes.

Supported Operating Systems
===========================

The Adept Runtime has been built for the following distributions:

Ubuntu 8.04
Ubuntu 9.10
Ubuntu 10.04
Ubuntu 12.04

Please note that limited testing has been performed for each of these
distributions. However, due to variances in system configurations Digilent
can provide no guarantee that the Adept Runtime will work on your system.

Dependencies
============

The WaveForms Runtime uses Digilent Adept Runtime to communicate with
Analog Design USB devices. You must install Adept Runtime 2.13.1 or above
from http://www.digilentinc.com

Installation
============

Before installing the WaveForms you must agree to the End User License
Agreement, which can be found in EULA.

For basic installation execute the included bash shell script (install.sh)
from a terminal with superuser privileges. This script installs all the
necessary components for proper functionality and should be sufficient for
most users.

If for some reason the install script doesn't work on your system or if you
would like to have more control over the installation process then read on.
The following section describes each component of the Runtime and provides
instructions on how the individual components may be installed.

Shared Libraries:
    The Runtime consists of libdwf shared library. The contents of the
    applicable directory should be copied to a location that is appropriate
    for the distribution that the Runtime is being installed on.

    Let's assume that you want to install the Runtime libraries in "/usr/lib".
    The following commands, when executed with superuser privileges, will copy
    the files to that location and set the appropriate permissions.

    chmod 755 lib/*
    cp -fd lib/ /usr/lib

    Once the dynamic loader configuration file has been installed it is
    necessary to have the dynamic loader update its cache. The following
    command, when executed with superuser privileges, can be used to force
    the cache to be updated.

    /sbin/ldconfig

Firmware Images:
    The Runtime contains firmware images that must be installed for the
    Runtime to function correctly. These images can be found in the
    "firmware" directory. The Runtime expects to find these images in
    the Digilent data directory under a subdirectory named "firmware".
    It looks for firmware and uses the first matching directory in the
    following order:
    /usr/local/share/digilent/waveforms/firmware/
    /usr/local/digilent/waveforms/firmware/
    /usr/share/digilent/waveforms/firmware/
    /opt/digilent/waveforms/firmware/

    The following commands, when executed with superuser privileges, will
    copy the firmware images to that location and set the appropriate
    permissions.

    mkdir -p /usr/local/share/digilent/waveforms/firmware
    cp -f firmware/* /usr/local/share/digilent/waveforms/firmware
    chmod 644 /usr/local/share/digilent/waveforms/firmware/*
