1. Description

Firmware version 1.05

This firmware update resolves an issue in which battery life is 
significantly reduced when the logger is operated with the 
LCD screen turned off (stealth mode).

2. Windows 8.x Requirements
===================================================

The .NET Framework 4.5 is installed with the Windows 8 
operating system, and the .NET Framework 4.5.1 is included with 
Windows 8.1.The Firmware update program, however, requires the
.NET Framework 3.5. 

You can enable the .NET Framework 3.5 through Control Panel: 
1. Open the Control Panel and click "Programs and Features".
2. Select "Turn Windows features on or off", and then select the 
   ".NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)" check box. 
   This option requires an Internet connection. You do not need 
   to select the child options beneath this selection.

Failure to enable the .NET Framework before installing the Firmware 
Update program on a computer running Windows 8.x may result in the 
program hanging or becoming unresponsive.

3. Updating firmware using USB-5100 Series Software

Note: All data on the device is erased when you update the firmware.
To avoid loss of data, be sure to read out any data on the USB-5104 
before updating the firmware.
 
Determine the installed firmware version:

To determine the firmware version currently installed on the USB-5104,
connect the device to a computer, run the USB-5100 Series Software, 
and open the Status window (Device»Status). Click Yes if the "Logger's
Power Reset" dialog box opens.
The currently installed firmware version is displayed in the 
Device Identification area of the window.

Firmware update procedure:

1. Download the 'FW_105_4 Channel Thermocouple.hex' file and copy it 
   to the desktop.
2. Connect the USB-5104 to your computer.
3. Select Help»Update Device Firmware»Update USB-5100 Series Firmware.
   The "Update USB-5100 Series Firmware" dialog box opens.
4. Click Yes.
5. Navigate to the desktop and select the FW_105_4 Channel 
   Thermocouple.hex file, then click Select. The "Update USB-5100 
   Series Firmware" dialog box opens.
6. Click Continue.
7. Click Yes when prompted to upgrade the firmware on the device.

A "Firmware Update Complete" dialog box displays after the firmware
is installed. Click Yes to open the "Launch Logger" dialog box, or No to close the dialog. You must launch the USB-5104 before it 
can be used again.

Note: The "Logger's Power Reset" dialog box will open each time an 
action is attempted until the logger is relaunched.
