Home > Initial Startup > What You Need for Initial Startup
For initial startup, we recommend connecting to serial port 0 of the DT7816. For this purpose, you can use either a Windows host computer or a Linux host computer. Note, however, that if you want to develop or modify applications for a DT7816 module, you will need a Linux host computer.
When connecting to the serial port, you will need the following:
A terminal emulator and network file transfer application, such as PuTTY or minicom, using a terminal setting of 115200, 8N1.
A USB to Serial TTL debug cable, such as the optional EP405, available from Data Translation. This accessory is included in the optional DT7816 Accessory kit.
A +5 V power supply, such as the optional EP394, available from Data Translation. This accessory is included in the optional DT7816 Accessory kit.
