Device Info

The Device Info tab lists information about the WebDAQ device, system clock, firmware version and update utility, and calibration status, and provides two log files — the Info Log File lists notifications such as start and stop times, and the Error Log File lists error notifications.

Device Info Tab
Device	Information about WebDAQ hardware: Name: The name assigned to the WebDAQ hardware. Users can accept the default value or enter a new name. The name is saved in EEPROM, written to a hostname file at device boot up, and included in the data file header. When entering a new name, all alpha-numeric characters are valid. The name can't begin or end with a hyphen, nor include special characters. The name is set by default to webdaq-xxxxxx, where xxxxxx is the last 6 digits of the MAC address (printed on the label on the underside of the device). Users can restore the default name and other factory default settings by pressing the CONFIG RESET recessed button on the rear panel. Model: The WebDAQ hardware model. Serial Number: The serial number assigned to the WebDAQ hardware. Mac Address: The Mac address assigned to the WebDAQ hardware. This address is also on a label on the enclosure bottom. Restart: Sends a reboot command to restart the WebDAQ hardware. If an unexpected system error occurs during an acquisition, Safe Mode can be enabled using the "Restart in Safe Mode" checkbox in the confirmation dialog to prevent a schedule from starting automatically on power up. Shut Down: Sends a shutdown command to the WebDAQ hardware. This option is disabled when Power Button Action is set to Restart on the User Preferences window. (This is the appropriate setting when jumper W1 is removed.) Note that when jumper W1 is removed, the only way to shut down the WebDAQ is to unplug the power adapter. Refer to the Power-On Mode topic for more information about this mode.
System Clock	The clock settings set on the WebDAQ hardware. These clock settings may be different from that of the user accessing the hardware. Tap the "Change date and time settings" link to show a Date and Time dialog with additional options: Timezone: Select a timezone from the drop-down list. Synchronize with Internet Time Server: Tap on to synchronize the system clock with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) server. Tap off to manually set the date and time. This setting is on by default. Date: Enabled when Synchronize with Internet Time Server is off. Use the selector controls to select a date and time, or enter the time directly in the fields provided. Tap Apply to close the dialog box and save the settings.
Firmware	Information about device firmware. Version: The firmware version installed on the device. Check for Updates: Opens the Firmware Updates page at Firmware Updates. Check for Updates: A link to contact us for firmware updates. Update button: Searches the root folder of each storage location on the device for a firmware update file. When a file is detected, the update automatically installs and the device is restarted. To avoid confusion, we recommend that only one firmware file be present on each storage location at any time. Refer to the Firmware Update procedure for detailed information.
Calibration	Calibration information: Cal Date: The date when the WebDAQ hardware was last calibrated. Cal Cycle: The recommended calibration interval.
Bootloader	Information about the device bootloader. Version: The bootloader version installed on the device. Check for Updates: Opens the Firmware Updates page at Firmware Updates. Check for Updates: A link to contact us for firmware updates. Important! Updating the device bootloader is not typically required. Perform a bootloader update only if there are specific instructions on the Firmware Updates page to do so. Update button: Searches the root folder of each storage location on the device for a firmware update file. If an *.swu file with a bootloader version later than that installed on the device is detected, the bootloader automatically installs, and the device is restarted.
Log Files	Contains the Info and Error log files and a toolbar. The Info log file lists device startup initialization information, job and schedule activity, and alarm activities since system startup. The Error log file lists all errors that have occurred since system startup. Log Files Toolbar: Refresh: Refreshes the log file. do_not_disturbClear: Removes all notifications from the log file. file_downloadDownload: Downloads the info.log or error.log file to the local drive location determined by the browser download settings. Auto Scroll button: Scrolls to the end of the log file.

Storage

The Storage tab shows the available storage types, and includes the amount of used and available space for each type. WebDAQ internal storage and external media (if present) display under a Device heading, and mapped network storage locations display under a Network heading.
Partitioned storage areas are indicated with a number. SD cards with multiple partitions are listed as P1, P2, and so on. USB drives with multiple partitions are listed as A1, A2, and so on. If a second USB drive is connected it is listed as B1, B2, and so on.

Device
Internal Storage	Always shown. Shows used and free space on the integrated internal storage of the WebDAQ.
SD Card	Shows only if an SD Card is mounted on the WebDAQ. Shows used and free space on the external storage of media inserted in the SD slot of the WebDAQ. Click Eject to unmount the media for removal. Note: if the external media is actively being used for data logging, this button will do nothing when clicked.
USB Storage Device	Shows only if a USB mass storage device is mounted on the WebDAQ. Shows used and free space on the external storage of media inserted in the USB connector of the WebDAQ. Click Eject to unmount the media for removal. Note: if the external media is actively being used for data logging, this button will do nothing when clicked.
Network
Map Drive button	Used to mount a network storage location onto the WebDAQ device. Opens the Network Storage Folder Properties dialog box to set the properties of the network folder. Select Network Folder or FTP Server as the location of the storage folder to map. Address: when Network Folder is selected, enter a path using the convention //{server name or IP address}. A folder name can be included. When FTP Server is selected, enter a web address using the convention ftp://{server address}. Domain: enter the network domain, if applicable; this field does not display when FTP Server is selected. Username: enter the username used to log into the network or server, if required. Password: enter the password used to log into the network or server, if required. Mount Point Name: enter a name for the directory in the external file system that is accessible to the user; typically the name of the shared network folder or server. Spaces are not allowed. This value displays as the title of each mapped location on the Storage panel, and appears under Network Storage in the directory structure of the Data Files window Files tab. Tap Apply to save the settings. *Username and Password are required fields if the location is password-protected. Access to a network storage folder is disabled while the schedule is active.
Refresh button	Updates to display each drive currently mapped on the WebDAQ, and the used and free space that is available on each drive.
Network Panels	Shows only if a network drive or FTP server is mapped as a WebDAQ storage location. Shows used and free space on the mapped network storage location. Disconnect and Properties buttons appear on each network panel. Tap Disconnect to remove the network storage location from WebDAQ; a confirmation prompt displays before the storage folder is removed from WebDAQ. Tap Properties to open the Network Storage Folder Properties dialog box to view or change folder settings.

Network

The Network tab lists network configuration settings and status, and allows selection of WiFi interface if a WiFi adapter is installed in one of the WebDAQ USB ports. Note — a wired connection must first be established before a wireless connection can be configured

Network tab

The WebDAQ IP address type is set by default for DHCP/Link-Local. When connected to a network, the device first attempts to receive an IP address from a DHCP server. If this fails, the link-local address stored on the device is used (169.254.100.100).

Network Tab
Network Settings	Tap LAN to configure the settings for a wired network, or WiFi to configure wireless network settings.
	LAN settings: IP Address Type: Select DHCP/Link-Local (default) for automatic configuration, or Static to manually configure network settings. With the default setting, the device attempts to receive an IP address from a DHCP server when it is connected to a network. If this fails, the link-local address stored on the device is used (169.254.100.100). Note: When using a static IP address, the Primary and Secondary DNS fields are set to the default DNS Server IP address read by the device. Default Subnet: The default subnet stored on the device. Default Gateway: The default gateway stored on the device. Primary DNS: The primary domain name system (DNS) server value assigned by the internet service provider (ISP); used to communicate with the device over the internet. Secondary DNS: The backup DNS value. Apply: Writes the network settings to the device; a restart is required. Users can restore the default network settings and other factory defaults by pressing the CONFIG RESET recessed button on the rear panel.
	WiFi settings (appears when a WiFi adapter is connected. Refer to the hardware manual for the procedure to configure the WebDAQ for wireless communication): WiFi On/OFF button: enables/disables WiFi. When enabled, the WebDAQ scans for available wireless networks. The network list updates every 10 seconds. Country listbox: Select the country where the wireless network is located. This value lets the WebDAQ know which regional WiFi settings to use. Choose a Network: Select a wireless network from this list and enter a password if prompted. To configure a wireless network not in the list, scroll to the bottom and choose Other to open the WiFi Network Other dialog box. Enter the SSID (network name), security type (NONE, WEP, or WPA/WPA2-PSK), and password used to access this network. Refer to your router documentation if required.
Network Status	Information about the LAN and WiFi networks, such as the current IP address.

Security

The Security tab allows the user to change passwords for each of the two built-in WebDAQ user accounts — "admin" and "share" — and to set the security level for access to the WebDAQ web interface.

The admin account is used to access the WebDAQ web interface or a shared WebDAQ storage location (through FTP or SMB).
The share account is only used to access a shared WebDAQ storage location (through FTP or SMB).

The security level for the WebDAQ web interface is set to "Off" by default. Set the desired security level to limit access to the web interface.

Security Level

Sets user permissions for access to the WebDAQ interface with a slider control.

High: Access to the web interface requires the admin password.
Medium: Access to the web interface is permitted for any user to read data or WebDAQ configuration settings. Changes to WebDAQ configuration settings or files require the admin password.
Off: Full access is permitted for all users without having to enter a password (default).

Tap Apply to save the access level.

Accounts

Allows users to set the administrator "admin" and "share" passwords.

admin: The admin password is used to access the web interface and WebDAQ shared storage locations. The default password is "admin".
share: The share password is used to access WebDAQ shared storage locations. The default password is "share". Users are prompted to enter an account name and its associated password when accessing WebDAQ shared storage locations.

Select Change Password to modify a password. Users are prompted to enter the admin password before changing either the admin or share password.

Enter Password: Sets the new password.
Confirm Password: Enter the password again to confirm the change.

Tap Submit to save the modified password. Depending on the current security level setting, if the admin password changed from the default, users may be prompted to enter the old password before the new one is applied.

Security for shared locations on the device (via SMB or FTP) are controlled separately
Permissions to access a shared folder or FTP server running on the WebDAQ are controlled separately by the Folder Properties dialog box (Data Files window Files tab) and the FTP Server Configuration dialog box, respectively.

Create	Opens the SMTP Server Settings dialog to add an SMTP server to the server list. The pre-defined servers are GMAIL, LIVE, and YAHOO. Choose Other if the desired server is not one of the pre-defined options. SMTP Server Settings dialog properties: Name: The pre-configured server name or a name you create for a server you define. Server: An email server where you have an account. There are lists of common email servers on the internet. This usually takes the form “smtp.server.com”, but it varies. Port: Usually 587. Check the value for the server you are using. Email: The email account on the selected server. Password: The password for the email account on the selected server.
Delete	Deletes the selected server definition.
Edit	Opens the SMTP Server Settings dialog box for users to modify the selected server definition. The password field is left empty for security reasons.
Test	Sends an email to the email account on the selected server to test the server settings. A message displays and an email is sent to indicate that the WebDAQ device SMTP server verification was successful.

FTP Server Configuration
ON/OFF toggle button	Turns on the FTP server running on the WebDAQ. Off by default. When set ON, enables the Root Path and Permission properties. Note that the port number is not editable, and is provided for information only.
Root Path	Sets the home (root) directory of the FTP server. Users can access files within this directory tree. Tap Browse and choose from Internal Storage, any available SD card or USB storage device, or Network Storage on a mapped network storage location. Icons are provided to create subfolders, refresh the file list, and navigate the folder hierarchy. External media must be inserted for the external options to display. Network drives must be mapped to WebDAQ for network storage types to display. Use the Storage tab to map a network storage location. Depending on the current security level, users may be prompted to enter a password when selecting a storage location.
Permissions	Sets read and modify access for the WebDAQ admin and share accounts. When users access the FTP server from an FTP client application on another computer, they are prompted for a user name and password. Enter either the admin or share account name and the associated password. Refer to the Security tab above for information about account passwords.
