Opening Saved Data

DAQami logs data and configured settings to a .tdms file each time you click Run the acquisition and log the data to disk to run an acquisition.

To open a data file, complete the following steps.

  1. Launch DAQami and click Open Saved Data on the Getting Started dialog box, or select Gear icon»Open Saved Data.

    Open Saved Data option
  2. If a configuration file is open, you are prompted to save changes made to it.
  3. Select a DAQami data file from the Open Saved Data dialog box.
  4. Because DAQami can only store in memory a maximum of 1 million samples per channel of data, if you open a data file containing more than 1 million samples per channel, you are prompted to select a range of data (1 million samples or less).

Use the scrollbar to select a range of data to load from the file, or enter a range of data based on Absolute Time/Relative Time.

    Open Saved Data option

Tip: Select a file under Recent Data Files on the Getting Started dialog box to open a recently opened data file.

When you open saved data, the device, channel, sample rate, trigger, and display settings associated with the data are loaded into DAQami. All DAQami features are available when you open a data file – you can add displays, drag channels between displays, add cursors, and so on.

If you add or remove displays, edit display settings, and/or change the color or name of a channel, you can save these changes to the data file by selecting Gear icon»Save Display Settings to Data File.

You can acquire additional data if the same device is still connected. When you acquire additional data, a new data file is created. Select the Overwrite option button on the Logging Options dialog box to replace the existing data file with new data.
